Overview

   In our classroom, social studies and science units will be alternated to allow more time for each subject. 

 Our first grade social studies curriculum focus is to learn about goods and services, and to identify and locate our city,

county, state, nation and continent on a simple map or globe.  Students will also locate major topographical

features of the earth's surface (continents, oceans, and landforms).  Throughout the year students will read

about and describe the life of historical figures and their contributions in American history; we will also

read about American folktales and explain how they characterize our national heritage.
