In first grade, we will be using the new Harcourt textbook series.
The most important goal of mathematics instruction is to help
students to become confident and capable problem solvers. To be
effective problem solvers, students need to be able to reason,
communicate mathematically, and make connections within math and the
real world. Students need a working knowledge of computation,
estimation and an understanding of basic number sense. Each day
your child will be doing a math journal, which provides
reinforcement of skills that your child is currently working on.
